They were probably from used for dinner parties, but were definitely used for the Royal Visits in 1882 and 1887 (Princess Beatrice and Prince Henry of Battenburg).

  2 Dinner soup bowl, part of a service made by Davenport, for the Salt family. The plate has scalloped edges, with scrolls of foliage in blue with gold edges, on the rim and the centre of the plate. In the Centre of the plate is the family motto in a red edged scroll which reads 'Quid mon deo juvante' and the Salt firms Alpaca logo below.
