• 2020.7: The Dayton Coal & Iron Company Limited (Rhea Co; Tenn; U.S.A.) Certificate of Shares

  Charles Stead's original share certificate in the Dayton Coal & Iron Company Ltd purchased in 1884. The certificate is sealed with a large red seal decorated with a castle. The certificate includes Salts Alpaca logo within the decoration on the left-hand side. Charles Stead was the Senior Manager for Salts and he accompanied Titus Salt Junior on a trip to Dayton on behalf of Sir Titus. After Sir Titus' death Charles Stead worked with Titus Salt Junior on the development of Dayton.

Discusses: land ownership; wealth distribution before the industrial revolution; the transport revolution, including the building of the cancals and railways; the importance of the mineral industries in the Bradford area; the rise of the worsted trade; the urban development of Bradford.

The book is a synopsis of the results of a survey by West Yorkshire County Council of the economic and social development of West Yorkshire, after 1500 AD. Contains chapters on: Textiles; Iron and coal; Minor industries; Communications; Working-class housing; Prioriries for future work. Includes maps of industrial activities, plans of buildings, photographs and other illustrations.

  Leaflet for 'Tennessee State Parks - Laurel-Snow Natural Area'. The leaflet includes information on the Salts involvment with the Town. The Salt family owned land and Titus Salt Junior took on the project to develop the town of Dayton, Tennessee. The project was not finished before his death in 1887.

  An article from the Bradford Antiquary (published by the Bradford Antiquarian Society) no. 17, 1923. History of the Northcliffe area, near to Saltaire, which had seen much mining activty from the seventeenth century up to the early twentieth century. The area became converted to a public park and playing fields in 1920 enabled by a donation from Sir Norman Rae.
