This is a reminiscence of leaving the Italian village of Montefalcione on 20 March 1950 to travel to Britain to find work. Describes arriving in Britain and travelling to Yorkshire by train. Brief description of working in a mill (unidentified) in Shipley where it was 'very noisy'. Also describes staying in a nearby hostel with other Italian women similarly employed in the mills.
Includes copies and transcriptions of postcards sent from Assuntina to her mother as she travelled to Britain. Also inlcudes copies of photographs of Assuntina, friends and of her husband who she met in Britain.
