• 2015.1: Dayton tea pot

  Teapot, taken to Dayton as a wedding gift for Percival and Eva (nee Hanson) Johnson. Percy was involved in the financial management of the Dayton Coal and Iron Company set up by the directors of Sir Titus Salt (Bart), Sons and Co Ltd. Eva was the youngest daughter of William Hanson, the head of the engineering department at Salts Mill. The Saltaire historians Dave Shaw and David King visitied Dayton to research its history and were given the teapot to to give to Eva's great-nephew Donald Hanson, who had been the chair of Illingworth, Morris the last owners of Slats Mill as a working textiles business. Donald donated the teapot to the collection, as he considered it 'a known 19th century artefact that binds the communities of Saltaire & Dayton'.

  Oil painting of Grace Salt (nee Smithies) who was the wife of Daniel Salt (the Wool Stapler) mother of Sir Titus Salt. Mrs Salt is dressed in a bonnet with a silk shawl decorated with flowers over her dress.

• 2018.3.19.1: Will of Daniel Salt

  Copy of the will of Daniel Salt & codicil to the will dated 14th December 1843. Daniel Salt (6.5.1781 - 28.12.1843) was a wool stapler and was the father of Sir Titus Salt. His wife was Grace Smithies who Daniel married in 5.7.1802.

• 2018.3.24: Cheques book

  Cheque book with a plain cover numbered 4684/4713 containing unused cheques for The Bradford Bank Company Limited Bradford. There are also 5 loose blank cheques, which all appear to have been taken from this book. The cheques are headed Milner Field with the Salts crest to the left of the check. The book is in the name of Titus Salt Junior. As Titus Salt Junior died in 1887 and this book has never been used by him, its likely that it was issued to him in the 1880's just before he died.

Including his will dated 1806, an inventory of his property (including his Slaves) details of a legal argument relating to his will and legal correspondence dated 1821 - 1822. Daniel Salt was the great Uncle of Sir Titus Salt.

The dates of the documents and the executors names are laid out on the front page. The will is laid out with the wording in one column and a précis of the paragraph on the right hand side.
