Liverpool is a major city on the north western coast of England. Liverpool is an important port, rising in prominence during the Industrial Revolution. Many raw materials and finished goods for the Salt textile business were routed through Liverpool. The Leeds-Liverpool canal was built during the late eighteenth century and siting Saltaire next to the canal was an important point for Titus Salt when deciding the location of his new mill and village.
