Assorted objects collected and kept by Isabel Salt. Includes: framed sketches, tin box and acorns, handbag, spectacles, party games, ammunition, champagne cork, mirror, pocket calendar and Cremation Society identity card more details below: There is no item 1.
2) Wooden hinged double picture frame. Contains two pencil sketches of a boy and girl [Isabel and Lawrence Salt]. [Late 19th century].
3) Box. Tin previously containing acorns and accompanying card 10cm wide x 6cm high x 2.5cm deep. Yellow and blue with black lettering: 'The 'Allenburys' Glycerine and Blackcurrant Pastilles. Made from the fresh ripe fruit. Manufactured by Allen & Hanburys Ltd London'. Late 19th or early 20th century.
4) Box. 20cm radius x 8cm deep. Covered in floral fabric. (Faded to brown but original colours on red ground visible under lid). Label on bottom: 'Pomme d'Or Harrogate'. Late 19th or early-mid 20th century.
5) Luggage tag. 12cm wide x 7.5 cm high. Brown leather with embossed S. Strap with buckle. Late 19th or early-mid 20th century.
6) Two hair curling tongs, with case labelled 'Salt. OXTED. Surrey'. Early-mid 20th century.
7) Spectacles and case. Animal skin case, 14cm wide x 6cm high x 2cm deep. Round spectacles with translucent orange frames. Chamois glasses cleaning cloth. 'Norman J. Fordham. 5 Station Approach, Oxted'. Early-mid 20th century.
8) 'Valentine's Party Games. The Shepherd's Garden.' Cardboard box, slightly damaged, 16cm high x 11cm wide, containing 8 cards. Box and cards with coloured picture of shepherd presenting floral wreath to shepherdess. Inside of card contains riddling poem with missing words. Separate sheet listing answers to riddles. Made by Valentine and Sons, Dundee and London. Also contains two handwritten cards 11cm high x 9cm wide with instructions to games, 'Find Me!' and 'Hide and Seek' with blank paper folded round them. Back of cards contain printed advertisement for 'White Elephant' stall for Oxted and Limpsfield Congregational Church. C1915.
9) Twelve acorns and card giving provenance. Previously in 'Allenburys' tin box. Mauve card, 6cm high x 9cm wide, reads: 'These were picked up by ? in the grounds of the Palace of Doorn (Holland) where the Ex Kaiser was living'. (Doorn crossed through. ?illegible written above). Reverse of card printed: 'In Aid of the Harrogate Infirmary Building Fund. Pageant of English Literature by the Girls of the Harrogate College. Saturday, July 23rd, at 8.15 pm. Admission 5s.'. Autumn 1918.
10) Ammunition. Labelled as shrapnel / shell. Card 11 cm high x 9cm wide. 'Oxted Trophies 1940-4', listing 5 labelled items. Original card: 'Lady Benn, At Home'. C1942.
11) Champagne cork. Cork, metal top. 4cm high x 2cm wide x 2cm deep. Veuve Pommery. 1943.
12-16) Handbag. 28cm wide x 21cm high x 3cm deep. Curved wooden handle with wooden clasp. Tapestry fabric. Lined interior with pocket. With four accompanying items:
Pair of spectacles (broken). Possibly tortoiseshell frames. Metal arms.
Mirror. 8cm long x 6cm wide. Tarnished.
