• Shipley College

  Shipley College is a college of further and adult education based in several buildings in Saltaire. Opening in 1969, it was a successor to the Technical School based in the Exhibition Building. As well as this building the College also uses the former Salt High School and Dining Hall premises on Victoria Road, parts of Victoria Hall, and the new, purpose-built Jonathan Silver Building on Exhibition Road.
• Saltaire Festival

  Saltaire Festival is an annual event held in Saltaire over ten days in September. It celebrates the local community and its heritage through a wide range of events including family activities, music and dramatic performances, street markets, exhibitions, and te provision and consumption of food and drink. It was first held in 2003, partly to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sir Titus Salt and the 150th anniversary of the founding of Saltaire. It also celebrated the recognition by UNESCO of Saltaire as a World Heritage SIte. The Festival is normally held to coincide with the Heritage Open Days organised annually by English Heritage.
• First World War (1914-1918)

• Second World War (1939-1945)

  The Second World War was a global war waged between Germany, Italy, Japan and and other 'Axis Powers' against the United Kingdom, France, the United States and their many allies. Most countries in the world were involved.
• World Heritage Day

  World Heritage Day is an informal name for International Day for Monuments and Sites, nominally 18 April. Annual events are organised around this date to celebrate the concept of UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as Saltaire. In Saltaire, events are often held at the weekend near to 18 April. The actual celebrations vary from year to year, but have included heritage exhibitions, small festivals based in Roberts Park, and public processions at dusk featuring a range of lights.
• Heritage Open Days

  An annual national event in England to celebrate the country's heritage. Usually held in September over a weekend. There is usually a theme. Heritage organisations are encouraged to provide access (usually free) to site of historical interest that are usually not open to the public. In Saltaire the Heritage Open Days normally occur during the Saltaire Festival. A variety of exhibitions, tours and other events have occurred over the years, including the notorious 'Secret tunnels' tours of 2017...
• Salt, Titus, Sir

  Major textile industrialist, businessman and philanthropist in nineteenth century Bradford. Commisioned the building of Salts Mill and Saltaire.
