H2-211: Architectural plans for the rebuilding of Hirst MillsSet of architectural plans for the rebuilding of Hirst Mills after a fire. Drawn up by the Bradford architects Samuel Robinson and Sons for Glyn, Thomas and Company Limited who rented the mill at the time. There are five separate drawings. One is a plan for the main building. Four are elevations from different perspectives.

Northcliffe, Shipley, West Yorkshire, United KingdomNorthcliffe is an area on the south side of the Aire Valley near to Saltaire. It was a site of woods, agriculture, coal mining and stone quarrying from the seventeenth to the early twentieth century, In 1919 Norman Rae, a local mill owner and MP for Shipley, donated £12,500 to the local council to purchase 114 acres of Northcliffe for use by the public. It is now a park, allotments and playing fields.

Bradford, West Yorkshire, United KingdomA large cathedral city in West Yorkshire. During the Industrial Revolution Bradford became a major centre for woollen textile production and rapidly grew in size. Titus Salt's original textile business was based in Bradford. By the 1850s the growth in size had resulted in insanitary, poor living conditions for many workers. This prompted Titus Salt to create Saltaire as a model village for his mill and its workers.

Liverpool, United KingdomLiverpool is a major city on the north western coast of England. Liverpool is an important port, rising in prominence during the Industrial Revolution. Many raw materials and finished goods for the Salt textile business were routed through Liverpool. The Leeds-Liverpool canal was built during the late eighteenth century and siting Saltaire next to the canal was an important point for Titus Salt when deciding the location of his new mill and village.
