The Auction house described the salver as a ' George III Silver presentation Salver by David Bell [small DB silver mark], London [sheild silver mark] 1761 [F silver mark] of circular form with a gadrooned and shell border, raised on three scroll feet, later presentation inscription and floral engraved field diameter 30 cm, weight 27oz. -
2018.41.4: Saltaire Mills from the North WestFramed brown and green toned print of 'Saltaire Mills from the North West. The image shows very few houses but the Mill is complete along with the church and Victoria Hall. Victoria Hall was completed in 1869 so this image must be from the 1870's before the building of the village was complete.

A1-036: The Great Yorkshire Llama
Facsimile copy of 'Household Words' (Nov. 27th 1852) with an article entitled 'The Great Yorkshire Llama'. Household Words was a weekly magazine edited by Charles Dickens. The article tells a story of how Titus Salt allegedley discovered surplus alpaca wool in 1836 and started experimenting with it to produce cloth. This led to a very successful textile business and, as the article was being written, the construction of a large new mill in what was to become Saltaire.
