Northcliffe, Shipley, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom Northcliffe is an area on the south side of the Aire Valley near to Saltaire. It was a site of woods, agriculture, coal mining and stone quarrying from the seventeenth to the early twentieth century, In 1919 Norman Rae, a local mill owner and MP for Shipley, donated £12,500 to the local council to purchase 114 acres of Northcliffe for use by the public. It is now a park, allotments and playing fields. -

The Knoll, Baildon, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom The Knoll was a grand mansion in Baildon, near Saltaire. It was built as the home of Charles Stead, a member of the board of Sir Titus Salt Bart. Sons and Company Limited. James Roberts later acquired the house in the early twentieth century. The house was demolished in the early 1960s. -
2018.3.1: Dinner servicePart of a set of dinner service, they are part of a collection of decorated Davenport dinner plates purchased by Catherine and Titus Salt Junior. They were probably from used for dinner parties, but were definitely used for the Royal Visits in 1882 and 1887 (Princess Beatrice and Prince Henry of Battenburg).

The plate has scalloped edges, with scrolls of foliage in blue with gold edges, on the rim and the centre of the plate. In the Centre of the plate is the family motto in a red edged scroll which reads 'Quid mon deo juvante' and the Salt firms Alpaca logo below.

2018.3.1.3: Davenport plateThese are part of a collection of decorated Davenport dinner plates purchased by Catherine and Titus Salt Junior. They were probably used for dinner parties, but were definitely used for the Royal Visits in 1882 of the Prince and Princess of Wales (Prince Edward and Princess Alexandra).
