Rae, Henry Norman, Sir Rae was a highly successful textile businessman and Liberal politician. Rae did his apprenticeship in the woollen trade and went into partnership with William Pickles as Pickles and Rae, woolcombers in Laisterdyke, Bradford. Rae was a good business man the firm flourished and opened offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. He even bought some land in Australia and called it Greenhill Farm. Due to this Norman Rae and his wife travelled in Australia regularly. -
2022.82: Two Salts (Saltaire) Limited metal badges A Salts (Saltaire) Ltd enamelled metal badge made for the Saltaire centenary in 1953. The badge is mainly oval with a black background and bearing the company logo consisting of a drawing of an alpaca and the words 'CENTENARY 1883-1953'. A scroll with a white background is underneath the oval and contains the words 'SALTS (SALTAIRE) LTD' -
2018.36.7: Prince & Princess of Wales planting a tree in Saltaire Park Original photograph of the Prince (the future Edward VII) and Princess of Wales planting a tree in Saltaire Park (now Roberts Park) The royal couple have arrived in a carriage (visible in the background) and have walked along a hall rug to a tree to be planted. Prince Edward holds an umberella, and a cigarette, while Princess Alexandra holds the spade. Members of ths Salt family including Titus Salt Junior, his wife Catherine and their children Harold, Lawrence and Isabel stand to the right of the couple. 2018.57: Cloth from Great Britain Promotional brochure for the subsidary companies of Illingworth, Morris Group. There is some brief introductory text. There are individual double-page presentations for each of the companies. One page features samples of cloth produced by the company. The other page is a photograph of a 'typical' scene from the Britain of the time. Salts (Saltaire) Limited is featured on pages 32-33. There is an index of overseas agents at the back of the book. 2025.70: Textile Voices - Mill Life This Century Book edited by Olive Howarth and published by Bradford Heritage Recording Unit 1989. Project Co-Ordination and Picture research by Tim Smith. The book includes life story interviews with members of the textile community together with photographs from family albums or by press and commercial photographers. The book charts the history of the textile industry, providing thought-provoking and surprising views from the textile workers themselves. Photographs of Saltaire are featured on pages 25,40,48 & 49 -
2025.72: Victorian Bradford Victorian Bradford - essays in honour of Jack Reynolds edited by DG Wright and JA Jowitt. The contributors to this book all had connections to Jack Reynolds and write about the development of an important industrial city in the nineteenth century. There are many references to Sir Titus Salt and Saltaire and extensive notes are provided throughout. -

2025.75: The Future of Salts Mill A Feasibility Study by management consultants KMG Thomson McLintock commissioned by City of Bradford Metropolitan Council. The study was commissioned to review the future of the Salts Mill site in 1987. It is a comprehensive study and proposals for redevelopment of the mill. It precedes the purchase of Sats Mill by Jonathan SIlver later in 1987. See also 2025.76 which is the associated appendices to this report. -
