The book is a detailed explanation of various aspects of the Kindergarten system, covering: Kindergarten gifts; Occupations; Ordinary school subjects; Singing; and Drill. Lois Bates was a headmistress of Albert Road School in Saltaire and the author of several education-related books.

Section two is a pictoral record of Bingley and section three looks at the places and people.
