Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool is a major city on the north western coast of England. Liverpool is an important port, rising in prominence during the Industrial Revolution. Many raw materials and finished goods for the Salt textile business were routed through Liverpool. The Leeds-Liverpool canal was built during the late eighteenth century and siting Saltaire next to the canal was an important point for Titus Salt when deciding the location of his new mill and village. -

Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom A large city in West Yorkshire, about 15 miles from Saltaire and connected to it by canal, rail and road. Leeds became a major centre for woollen textile production during the nineteenth century. -
Railway Station, Saltaire, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom Saltaire Railway station was part of the Midland Railway and opened in 1856. The nearby railway, along with the canal, was likely an important factor in Titus Salt’s decision to build his model village on this site. The station closed in 1965 as part of the widespread programme of railway closures. The orignal buildings were demolished in the 1970s. A new station was reopened in 1984 and has services to Leeds, Bradford and Skipton.
