A2-008a: Milner Field, For Sale Sale catalogue for the sale of Milner Field Estate, prepared by C.H. Lord - Estate Agent, for sale by Gaunt Foster which did not go ahead as planning permission was not granted. The catalogue includes image of the house both externally and internally at the time of sale, with some images from the Salts family. The details include who the Architect was and who owned the land prior to the Salts. However the Salts family sold the estate in 1903 to James Roberts, but there is no mention of him in in this document. The document looks later in style than the dated 1922 document but further research is requied to establish an accurate date. -

A1-125: Notes on two documents related to Sir Titus Salt Bart Sons & Co. Ltd. Detailed notes on two original documents 'Memorandum and Suggestions',1883 and 'Statement and Scheme for reconstruction', 1892 relating to the Salt family business. The original documents are available as 2024.65 and 2024.66 (with a typewrtitten copy also availalbe at 2018.36.3). Local historian David King gives a detailed interpretation of two key documents in the history of the Salt textile business and Saltaire. The first doucment is a suggestion for a financial reconstruction of Sir TItus Salt Barts. Sons & Co. Ltd to meet its liabilities. The second document describes the status of the company in 1892 when it was facing voluntary liquidation and being bought by a consortium of local businessmen inlcuding James Roberts. -

The letters contain a great deal of information on land dealings, rents, pensions and other business issues. -

2025.124: William Beanland 1822-1886 biography 3 photocopied pages of historical biography on William Beanland by Pauline Shieldhouse 2020. William Beanland was born in Bradford 1822 and became one of the founders of the building firm J & W Beanland, based in Bradford. The firm went on to build part of Salts Mill, Bradford Wool Exchange, Bradford Post Office at Forster Square and the Swan Arcade Bradford among others. -
