2024.72: The Garnett Story 1831-1962 by E Philip Dobson A hard backed book, illustrated and subtitled The History of a Yorkshire Worsted and Woollen Business Through Four Generations. Published to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Garnett-owned textile business, from its earliest foundations in the late eighteenth century up to the mid twentieth century. Contains a history of the textile business. Appendix A describes the processes of woollen and worsted manufacture in the early Victorian age. A detailed family history of the Garnett family can be found at the back of the book. -
2024.73: The Derwent Valley Mills and their Communities An illustrated paperback about the bid for the Derwent Valley MIlls to be awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. The book contains the hisorical sections and the bibliography and glossary of the nomnation document submitted to UNESCO. The Derwent Valley Mills were successful in their bid and became a World Heritage SIte in 2001, at the same time as New Lanark Mills in Scotland and Saltaire. -
