A1-036: The Great Yorkshire Llama Facsimile copy of 'Household Words' (Nov. 27th 1852) with an article entitled 'The Great Yorkshire Llama'. Household Words was a weekly magazine edited by Charles Dickens. The article tells a story of how Titus Salt allegedley discovered surplus alpaca wool in 1836 and started experimenting with it to produce cloth. This led to a very successful textile business and, as the article was being written, the construction of a large new mill in what was to become Saltaire. The certificate is sealed with a large red seal decorated with a castle. The certificate includes Salts Alpaca logo within the decoration on the left hand side. -
