• B1-332: Salts (Saltaire) Ltd Brochure

  'Salts (Saltaire) Ltd' Booklet with signature of Mrs Morris. Produced in the year following the listing of Salts (Saltaire) Ltd as a public company. Has brief history of Salts Mill and Saltaire but mainly shows the current operation of the mill. Includes many photographs of the Mill in operation.

• F1a-173a-b: The Italian Contribution to Shipley Textile Manufacturing. The Ricciardo (Mackin) Sisters' story from 1957

  The story of Italian sisters Dora and Margherita Mackin with refrences to Velia Campbell (all nee Ricciardo). Account of their early lives in Italy and then travelling to Britain in the 1950s to work in the textile industry.

  A small printed paper booklet, 16 pages. It is contained in the back of a book of newspaper cuttings compiled for James Roberts. Mainly contains a story 'No repentence' by Joan Compton
• 2024.65: Memorandum and suggestions 1883

  Original paper, handwritten document relating to the Salt family business. The memorandum suggests an arrangement for the setting up of a fund out of the income and profits of Sir Titus Salt, Bart. and Sons Co. Ltd. The fund is designed to to pay for various liabilities on the compnay and its directors and also to provide a regular income for the share and debenture holders (largely the Salt family). A detailed intepretation of the document by local historian David King is available in item A1-125.
• 2024.66: Statement and scheme for reconstruction

  Original paper handwritten document relating to the Salt family business. The document sets out the details of the proposed takeover of Salts Mill and Saltaire village by a consortium of four Bradford businessmen: Isaac Smith, John Rhodes, John Maddocks and James Roberts. The document outlines the will of the the late Sir Titus Salt, describes the capital structure of Sir Titus Salt Bart. Sons and Co. Ltd. It also the describes the incorporation of the firm as a limited company and its recent decision to apply for voluntary liquidation. It finally outlines the proposed takeover by the consortium. A detailed intepretation of the document by local historian David King is available in item A1-125.   Original Hand painted place name card with names for the official dinner for the Royal visit for 23rd June 1882. This card is for Miss Willet and is decorated with a daisy.

• 2024.148.2: Garden Craftsmen advert from the Heaton Review.

  Article produced to celebrate the centenary year of Salts Tennis Club by Jim Dyer. An A4 photocopy of an advert from the Heaton Review advertising Conways Ltd, a landscape business from Halifax. The advert features a photograph of the Salts Tennis Club and includes a comment 'considered by experts to be one of the finest recreation grounds in Yorkshire'.

  A collection of cuttings from various newspapers relating to the Salts Tennis Club, orginally founded by the owners of Salts Mill for recreational purposes in 1923. The cuttings cover the period from the foundation of the club in 1923 up to 1959. See also 2024.148.3 which contains transcripts of some fo teh same articles.
